When my daughter started Year 2, she was struggling with reading. She refused to read her reader at home and felt embarrassed to read aloud. The way children are taught to read today is very different from when I went to school, and I didn’t really understand phonics or how to support her learning. Emma helped us connect the dots between what was happening at school and what our daughter actually needed. She not only improved my daughter’s confidence with reading, but also gave me the knowledge and tools I needed to understand what she was learning. I can now clearly see her progress and know how to help her at home. Working with Paired Pathways has also strengthened my relationship with my daughter’s classroom teacher. They’ve helped me ask more insightful questions and become a stronger advocate for my daughter’s education. Emma has been amazing helping my daughter with her learning. Since Ivy started working with Emma, Ivy has gone from developing to strong and is now exceeding in a number of key areas in maths and English. Ivy’s confidence has grown so much and above all Ivy now loves learning. She looks forward to her 45-minute session every week – it’s the highlight of her week! Emma has also been so supportive in helping me understand how to best support Ivy’s learning at home, which has made such a difference.
